Back in October, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to spend a week in France working as the Key Hair and Makeup Artist for the L’Artisan Workshop. What an experience it was to meet so many talented women, to stay in a stunning chateau in the countryside, to drink French champagne and to do what I love to do the most!

Kasia from French Grey Events and Kim from Maru Photography (the masterminds behind L’Artisan) kept the attendees in suspense over the course of the workshop with a surprise location for the final photoshoot. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

“This chic Parisian editorial was shot at the Hôtel Ritz Paris as part of the inaugural L’Artisan Workshop, a Canadian-French fine art photography and styling workshop.”

Just stepping foot inside of this majestical building, my eyes turned to love hearts and my heart filled with joy. For this shoot, I had the pleasure of looking after the groom. Ensuring sure his hairline was freshly tapered, his hair was slicked back into place, his beard was groomed and that his face was subtly contoured. I have to admit, working on women usually is more creative and there are definitely more options, but there’s something about seeing a polished groom that makes you realise the devil really is in the detail.

The combination of nerves, stress and excitement was running high but it’s this vibe, this feeling that keeps you on your toes and pushes you forward. Being in such an iconic Parisian place, working with talented, passionate people, was such an inspiring experience and one that I will never forget.

I have to admit, once I had a taste of the Ritz, I couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to lead a glamorous, champagne lifestyle.
