International Hair Stylist &
Hello, I’m Jess.
I’m a hair stylist and makeup artist, an Australian girl at heart with European roots. I’ve been in the industry for over a decade. My career began in picturesque Adelaide, where I trained as a hairstylist in one of the city’s largest Wella salons. It was here that my passion for the industry was ignited and where I was thrown headfirst. After completing my apprenticeship, my desire to create and expand my skillset grew, so I returned to study and became a makeup artist. After working for an international makeup brand and one of Australia’s largest natural and organic cosmetic brands, I wanted to extend my boundaries and see the world. I packed up my things and moved to London to further develop my craft. After two years in the UK, I followed my heart to Berlin, a city I’m now proud to call home. During my career, I’ve overseen the beauty direction on photo shoots, runway shows, television, and at international red carpet events. Whether working for private clients or on commercial shoots, I approach the day with creativity, professionalism and importantly, heart.
But in all the years I have been working as an artist on an international platform, I have always struggled to find the right equipment, tools and accessories to support myself on assignments. I have had to contend with the straps of kits; I’ve buckled under the weight of my products; I’ve dealt with smashed pallets, melted products after summer location shoots, back aches from lugging products to various locations, kits that are heavy, bulky and unattractive … The list goes on! Fed up with investing money in products that have let me down and that haven’t suited my aesthetic taste, I decided to take on the challenge of creating them myself. The finished product will be a collection of conscious luxury, industry-improved accessories.
Follow me on my journey.
I’ve always had a competitive spirit, and that was magnified when I started out as a hairdresser. Working for one of South Australia’s largest Wella salons, I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work really closely with the brand. After being named junior technical specialist of the year, and then achieving first place in the annual TrendVision Competition for South Australia, I was asked to put together a creative team to present the trends for the following two years. Alongside my salon colleagues, I also hosted styling workshops at Wella studios in my home town. It has been truly an honour to receive the accolades I have over the years. But what I love most about that time of my life was the collaboration with wonderfully creative people who helped me conceptualise looks and then bring them to life. The actual events always made my heart beat at what felt like a hundred miles per minute, particularly when I saw what my competitors had come up with! Then there was the anxious wait to see if my name would actually be called and the spike in adrenalin moments before they announced the winner. Being in this environment always forced me to push my boundaries. It prompted me to step outside of my comfort zone and showed me that there is always room to improve. Entering and winning those competitions gave me the fire I needed year by year and enables me now to keep my work always fresh, and always on trend.
